Decoropolis calendar 2021

Decoropolis

The theme of Cassa di Risparmio’s 2021 calendar is the perfect combination of the Republic’s buildings and architecture and artwork by designer Nunzia Ponsillo, who trained at the University of San Marino.

It is a fascinating journey through a familiar yet metaphysical “polis”, a fantastical and surreal world that is brought to life by the original graphic motifs.

San Marino’s iconic architecture in Decoro-Polis is used as a source of inspiration by designer Nunzia Ponsillo.

Surreal skies, suns and clouds are combined with recurring geometric shapes such as lines, dots and arrows; the neon “string” that runs through these visionary, irrational and phantasmagorical images wraps itself around them and plays with the buildings, floating in the air, all helping to decorate the city: the Polis.

Decoration may seem superfluous and frivolous, but it serves to enliven and brighten up our everyday surroundings, which, beyond aesthetic taste, cannot fail to intrigue, by infusing colours with the need for light-heartedness and mental relief after such a difficult period, which has forced us to radically change our habits. Imagination, creativity and fantasy are sources of strength for the mind and soul, combined with our Republic’s most iconic buildings and monuments.

“The design, planning and production of a calendar for a New Year immediately inspires positivity and optimism: this is what DECOROPOLIS is all about. A calendar featuring 13 photos of San Marino architecture, including one for each month and a cover dedicated to the headquarters of Cassa di Risparmio, the only bank in the beautiful Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The photographs are intentionally in black and white and are decorated with colourful graphics, almost like a passing of the baton from a year in chiaroscuro to the burst of optimism and light-heartedness brought by colour. Great enthusiasm and hope for the future are attitudes that make it possible to get back up again after a fall.

I wish everyone a peaceful Christmas with their loved ones and that 2021 may truly be the beginning of a new renaissance for the entire community of San Marino. “

THE CAPTAINS REGENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO

SPEECH BY THE CAPTAIN REGENTS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF CASSA DI RISPARMIO DI SAN MARINO’S 2021 CALENDAR

Dear guests,
we are pleased to extend our warmest greetings to you on the occasion of the presentation of the calendar produced by Cassa di Risparmio di San Marino for next year.
Today’s event is part of a well-established tradition – an opportunity to highlight the value of a business promotion tool such as the calendar, especially when the topics covered are of artistic and cultural interest.
In this calendar, the months of 2021 will be marked by images of places that are particularly dear to all San Marino citizens, images that are made even more striking by the creativity and imagination of designer Nunzia Ponsillo and by a play of colours that lends an original atmosphere of lightness to these landscapes that are part of our daily lives.

We would like to express our appreciation to the author and to Cassa di Risparmio, which, with this publication, continues to demonstrate its sensitivity towards the new generations and its interest in new forms of artistic expression, such as design.
This initiative is a great opportunity to learn more about the work of this young designer, who is particularly well-regarded by the San Marino community, not least because she chose our Republic as the place in which to live and work after finishing her studies in the degree course in Design.

Her career also bears witness to the great potential of the University of the Republic of San Marino, which has succeeded in setting itself apart through its strong international vocation and its ability to diversify its cultural offering, managing to attract, year after year, a increasing number of students. This is further confirmation that the University is a particularly valuable resource
for our country, for its cultural and civil growth.
We are therefore grateful to you for promoting, together with our architectural and landscape heritage, this centre of excellence in our country.
As a community, we will be able to take on board the message of hope and optimism that you have entrusted to this calendar by facing the future with confidence, with an awareness of our most authentic vocations and with the will to work together to promote and enhance the heritage, potential and skills that our country has to offer.
We would like to once again express our appreciation to all those who, in various ways, have contributed to the production of the calendar, and would like to extend our warmest wishes for the upcoming festive season.

San Marino, 18 December 2020/1720 d.F.R. (1720th Year of the Republic)
